It All Begins Here

Behind the scenes from the filming of - Taking Back My Life: The Colette Martin Story

Every decision we make is shaped by a clear sense of purpose.

This seemingly small town becomes so large when you feel the love that pours from everyone you meet. The crew who came together to help tell Colette’s story was welcomed with open arms and full hearts. Supporting Colette and others like her is the goal and we hope you will join us in continuing to spread awareness about domestic violence and how quickly it can erupt before you know it’s happening. Sharing the red flags and being aware and vocal when something seems wrong is necessary to prevent horrors like this from continuing.

These few behind the scenes photos are from the first and second time the crew visited Miramichi and Baie Ste Anne to film for Taking Back My Life: The Colette Martin Story.

The first time filming in late June of 2025 was when we met and interviewed people from Colette’s life. From before the attack, those who were there that night, and those who have helped support from that day onward. There were tears shed and bonds created as we learned more and more about her life and what she has gone through to become the strong, outspoken woman she is today.

The second time filming was early June 2026 where we traveled location to location to recreate scenes from her life, including the day she became a survivor of attempted murder. It is important to not only tell, but show how horrific this event was. These are real tragedies that are happening every day and you never know when you or someone you love may become a target of an abuser. This is one of the reasons why it is so necessary to bring Colette’s life to the screen. It can not be ignored.

Through the smiles and joy you see in these behind the scenes photos, it’s crucial to not forget how we got here. Colette continuing to spread the message of intimate partner violence is a testament to her strength and resilience. It takes a village to keep everyone safe. And everyone deserves to be part of a village. Stay aware, stay outspoken, stay loving.
